Badger Launches Certified Organic Mom and Baby Care Products

organic beauty products for moms and babies by badger

Badger has just launched a USDA-certified organic mom and baby collection composed of an all-natural nursing balm, a belly butter, and a pregnant belly oil. Aimed to cater to the very unique needs of pregnant and nursing moms, this new line has some of Badger’s characteristics: Delectable formulas, high-quality all-natural ingredients, and no preservatives to protect the lil’uns.

As I’m surrounded by pregnant friends, Badger was kind enough to send me some samples of the new line that we put to the test for a full month. Want to know all the details of our experience? Keep reading for our candid, unbiased opinions about this game-changing organic mom and baby care line!

The Pregnant Belly Oil

Taking care of a pregnant belly is much more than simply preventing future stretch marks. The hormonal fluctuations often make the skin drier, itchy, and generally uncomfortable. Badger’s Organic Pregnant Body Oil ($19.99) has one of the most rounded-up formulas available in the market at a very reasonable price point.

Jojoba and coconut oils moisturize and nourish. Sunflower and calendula soften and soothe, while the natural perfume notes of rose and vanilla are gentle enough for the mom-to-be that could be sensitive to harsh scents. Hypoallergenic, and suitable for all skin types, this oil has no synthetic ingredients or preservatives. It really is nature at its best.

{Insider tip}: My friend reports that it’s perfect for daily use for an indulgent feet massage—her partner hasn’t been able to say no to such an irresistible scent!

The Belly Butter

Badger’s Organic Pregnant Belly Butter ($9.99) is a genius idea. One of the biggest complaints of my pregnant friends is that they find it inconvenient to use oils when their bellies grow too much for them to bend. A belly butter is a simple, portable solution that relieves dry, stretched and itchy pregnant skin.

To use, simply rub a bit in your hands to soften and apply without fear as it won’t be runny or mess with your clothes. A little goes a long way! Plus, this product is so good that one of my friends has been using it as a post-delivery care for the sensitive skin of her stomach (and the word that she kept using is “comfortable”!) Furthermore, it absorbs quite quickly and, according to my friend’s experiments, it doesn’t stain clothes, which is a must when you’ve got only 30 seconds for yourself as you have to take care of a newborn. The cocoa butter aroma is a nice touch as well!

{Insider tip}: This balm is absolutely remarkable to recover and rehydrate dry skin. We have found an alternate use as a great foot prep before you step on your Spring sandals. Just apply a bit where your shoes usually rub your skin and you’ll avoid those painful blisters while you break them in.

The Nursing Balm

Once the baby is born, one of the most common needs of new mothers is to soothe and protect their nipples during the lactation period. To me, the most important thing is to find a breastfeeding-safe formula that is good for the mom and good for the baby. Badger’s new Organic Nursing Balm ($5.99) is one of the safest options currently in the market with a family-friendly price.

Tested by pediatricians, Badger Organic Nursing Balm uses just five simple, all-natural and certified organic ingredients: sunflower, beeswax, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and carnauba wax. No lanolin and no nasties! Gluten-free with no added fragrance, it is perfect to facilitate that very special bonding time between mother and baby.

{Insider tip}: We really liked this nursing balm as it’s extremely portable and travel-friendly. My friend has bought a second tin to keep in her go-to diaper bag so she can always reach out whenever she feels her breasts are extra-sensitive.

Our Verdict: Buy Organic, Buy Local

To be honest, I’m appalled when I see some synthetic ingredients somehow sneaking their way into mom and baby care products. That is why I really like Badger’s new line: It’s formulated with simple and effective ingredients, it’s budget-friendly at a time when families need to rearrange their finances, and it’s certified organic by the USDA, which means that at least 95% of the formula is organic. No bogus marketing verbiage here, this is the real organic deal!

Rebecca Hamilton, co-owner and VP of Research & Product Development at Badger, explained to the press that “we are a family friendly company with a passion for creating safe, nourishing products full of organic goodness. Caring for moms and babies is something we take very seriously. Our new Mom Care line is formulated using only the gentlest blends of pure organic plant oils and emollient-rich butters and is free of any artificial ingredients, fragrances, GMOs, synthetics, or harsh ingredients.”

Furthermore, Badger is a certified B Corp and a Benefit Corporation that manufactures all its products in the USA and creates nearly a hundred local jobs. In a world where we can vote with our dollars, I personally believe it is important to support small businesses that strive to make a difference, and which don’t cut costs or use blah ingredients just to make a profit.

I'm surprised by the price I thought organic was always very expensive

Badger is actually very price-friendly, @anonymous! Organic might mean a bit more expensive, but there are companies that manufacture products that are very reasonably priced and use certified organic components.
