100% Pure has just launched the new Cocoa Butter Matte Lipsticks. This is the brand’s first collection of all-natural, matte lipsticks made with cocoa butter and fruit pigments. If you are a big fan like myself of their anti-aging pomegranate lipsticks (more about them here), I’m positive you’ll fall in love with these nontoxic beauties.
Keep on reading to get all the juicy details and swatches of this Insta-Worthy line!
The Deets
The new 100% Pure Cocoa Butter Matte Lipsticks come in nine gorgeous opaque shades: Sonora, Prickly Pear, Blood Orange, Hyacinthus, Currant, Cactus Bloom, Tempest, Marrakesh, and Sandstone {please note only five are pictured above}. They retail for $29 on www.100percentpure.com.
Their formula is jam-packed with hydrating ingredients and all-natural goodness, so they can be used even on the driest lips. The trick for best application is to have clean lips beforehand. If you feel you need to use a moisturizer before (and you most probably won’t) apply it about 5 minutes beforehand and wipe clean with a tissue before using the matte lipstick.
For those of you looking for nontoxic or chemical-free makeup options, I believe 100% Pure is a great green alternative. The ingredient list is chock-full with all-natural and vegan ingredients (I reached out to the company to ask about their Vitamin E, and it’s sourced from vegetables), and they use fruits to pigment their formula. No carmine, no artificial dyes, no nasties.
Ingredients: Theobroma Cacao (Organic Cocoa) Seed Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Extracts of Prunus Cerasus (Cherry) Fruit, Prunus Domestica (Plum) Fruit, Vitis Vinifera (Cabernet Grape) Fruit, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Cacao (Chocolate), Rosa Centifolia (Rose Petals) Flower, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem, Oryza Sativa (Rice Starch), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Silica, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract
Swatches
I don’t know about you, but I own a lot of lipsticks. And by a lot I mean over a hundred. I love color, and I literally wear lipstick every single day. That is why long ago I decided to create my personal swatch cards (although I like to use a cream paper because it mimics my skin undertones, any filing card will do.) I use them as a reference when I need to complete a look, and that way I avoid wasting product by knowing exactly what I have in my beauty bags. Out of sight, out of mind!
As you can see, I have personally tested five shades:
– Currant: This gorgeous berry red is my favorite of all five. It looks beautiful with my dark hair and eyes, and it brings a pop of color to any outfit. I think this color goes very well paired with a neutral pantsuit for an elegant work look.
– Marrakesh: This is a playful and vibrant fuchsia that screams good vibes! It looks great with a neutral eye (I love to use it with 100% Pure eye pencil in black.)
– Prickly Pear: This is a vibrant coral pink that, to be honest, looks very different in person from what I could see on my computer. And although I’m not a coral person at all, I believe I could pull it off in the summer with a bit more of a tan.
– Sonora: Although Sonora is described as an orange-red by the brand, I was very happy to see it had a very flattering pinkish undertone on my skin. Simply gorgeous.
– Blood Orange: Don’t get confused by this name. There is no orange on this lippie, or at least it doesn’t show on my skin. To me, this is a beautiful dark red ideal for a date night. Grown-up and sophisticated, it is my second-favorite color of all five.
My Personal Opinion
These lipsticks come in gorgeous colors. The formula is very creamy, smells nicely of fruits and covers well (for an extra matte look I only needed a couple of coats.) If that alone weren’t enough, they are quite long-lasting and have built-in hydrating properties, so they can be used even on the driest of pouts.
Literally, what’s not to like about them? Me and my very dry lips give our personal seal of approval to this wonderful addition to the 100% Pure family.
