Review: MyGreenFills natural laundry soap

I am really excited to bring you this new brand I very recently discovered: MyGreenFills. It's a small business that creates laundry products good for the planet and good for those families concerned with the effect of the continued exposure to toxic chemicals. Unfortunately, many of those are present in regular laundry detergents.

Let me begin by telling you my story: I have very dry, sensitive skin. Sometimes, conventional laundry detergents and softeners will cause me allergies, so I tend to wash my clothes with a Spanish brand of mild soap called Lagarto, which by the way does not exist in the States, or with other allergy-friendly solutions. If there are none available, I will wash my clothes with the mildest brand available in the market and put them through a second rinsing cycle. And I hate wasting water like that!

A couple of months ago, I received a MyGreenFills kit with a Laundry Soap jug and refill, a Softener container and refill, and an enzyme stain remover. I have to admit that at first I was a bit skeptical about the product: A 100 percent natural, hypoallergenic, refillable laundry soap that needs to be dissolved in lukewarm water and promised to work as a regular detergent in my HE washer? It really sounded too good to be true. Well, I have to admit I was extremely wrong in my first impression for several reasons:

- The ingredients are all natural, cruelty-free and vegan. There is no deceiving greenwashing techniques in this product. I can read out loud them all, and thanks goodnes there is no Sodium Lauryl Sulphate included (my enemy number one!) The living proof? My skin doesn't itch!

- The detergent and the softener work as well as my previous chemical laundry detergent. I even cleaned my white winter coat with excellent results (I had to use the Enzymes because it was a bit dirtier than the rest of my clothes.) It really is a safe alternative without compromising the quality of the product. And it works in cold water very well for my delicates.

- Not only the MyGreenFills formulas are eco-friendly, but also its packaging protects the Environment! The first kit comes with an empty jug and a powder refill you need to dissolve in luwewarm water. What's great is that any refills that you purchase are small pouches that take no space to store. Waste not, want not! This system saves space in my tiny apartment, and I'm convinced there's a tree somewhere silently thanking these guys for their packaging solution. No more plastic waste, and no more water waste.

I have used their products for four laundry cycles now, and I can say I'm extremely happy with the product for all the above reasons. However, I cannot attest to its results with very dirty clothes (hello families with active kids!) I suppose you need to try it for yourselves.

Here's my personal little trick for a green laundry: Because the detergent you get looks like a soapy water (believe me, it works!) I find it handy to shake the jug vigorously before I use it, to shake up the components!

MyGreenFills is so confident in its products that it's offering a free laundry soap jug for anyone willing to try its products.
